The Concept Design for the 'House 'E' Courtyard Garden' centred around the client's request for a simple design response to the quiet, unused section of the property. The back garden courtyard space is enclosed by the main house and a secondary residential building on the property - both buildings have entrances which open up into the courtyard.

The client requested the that the design should include a natural looking koi pond, which created an opportunity for designing a tranquil atmosphere enhanced by the sound of running water in the private courtyard space. The plant pallette selected for the garden was a mix of lush, shade loving plants, with a variety of textures and colours to contribute interest and variety to the overall tranquility of the courtyard space.

Curvilinear lines in the paving were used to transition from the geometric architecture of the building to the organic, natural design of the water feature.
