LANDSCAPE DESIGN FOR THE NEW LECTURE THEATRE : UJ AUCKLAND PARK

This landscape was designed and implemented in conjunction with the design and implementation of the new Lecture Theatres at the University of Johannesburg Auckland Park Campus.

 

Two new lecture theatres were developed on a previously open piece of land at the University of Johannesburg. The focus of the landscape design was to create a simple yet elegant landscape for the new lecture halls, that would accomodate students and enhance the open spaces around the buildings. The piece of land was shaded by a giant gum tree. The tree needed to be felled to accomodate the new buildings. However, the wood of the felled tree was used to create furniture in the landscape
